The domain name is not free

A2 Hosting does not include a free domain name in any of their shared hosting plans. This is not a very common sight in the hosting industry as most of the hosts we reviewed offer a free domain name (at least for the first year).

For example, to register or transfer a domain name with A2 Hosting, you have to pay $16.99 per year for a .com extension (renewable at the same price).

High Renewal Rates (And a 15-Day Deadline)

A2 Hosting offers lower prices with long-term plans. They also have introductory prices with their plans when you sign up with them for your first term, which is more than half the regular price.

This sweet offer ends after the initial period when auto-renewal begins at “regular” prices. The renewal price is about three times the average monthly price you paid the first time.

It gets worse.

Its terms require you to submit a written request for cancellation via the Customer Portal or email “15 days prior to the start of the renewal period”. by email to [email protected].

What happens if you miss this 15 day window? You must pay for the next renewal plan, which will automatically renew, and you cannot get a refund.
